BBC Four has had an enjoyable series of car-related shows (including one with Whitby and Goths in it!) lately and today there was a bit about marketing and how the car has been presented on TV. I personally don't really like "lifestyle" marketing, but I see the justification and relevance now, particularly as car technology (in the important sense) has stagnated for the past 30 years+ - there's no sense showing the buyer a five-speed gearbox or a windy sunroof on your advert, it's all taken for granted.
