...twatnose at David Thomson wouldn't do the measurements, citing that it would be 1/2 hour work that he wouldn't see any return for, and that it would come back to him if it came back wrong, and "these Thai suits are all crap, you have to spend a fortune to get anything good". (This would be whilst staring at the measurement sheet and saying "This is for a fully tailored suit").
This, of course, is AFTER I have a: said that I would pay for his time, b: said that I was interested in a pinstripe suit (of which they have many), c: had already indicated to his partner that I would be buying some obscenely overpriced shirt and tie as long as the suit I want was good when it arrived (and, would probably have bought said shirt with said pinstripe suit).
What a rude, stupid little man. No-wonder he's having a closing down sale. Thing is, I can go and buy a cheap wool/synthetic blend pinstripe for £150 anywhere even without closing down sales, and get better service.
Thomsons have been in business since 1883, apparently, but their kilt and suit shops in Hawick have closed or are closing.
