Sep. 6th, 2006 11:12 amAlphaSyntauri - keyboard felt like crap. Slamming, clacking, sticking keys, all over the place in terms of alignment.
Stripped a key down and found missing rubber parts.
Quick research into key mechanisms later, and it's identified as a Pratt-Read mechanism, and there are replacement bushes available at $54 for a set of 61!
Now i just need some felt to replace the disintegrated foam rubber parts; ideally red or white and about 2cm width, 0.5-0.7cm high.

Sep. 6th, 2006 01:51 pmI suspect I am not eating enough. I am getting more tired after the gym, despite theoretically being 'fitter'. So I have to eat more.
Thing is, I don't want to get into the state where I eat so much, my stomach thinks it is empty and I'm always hungry :/
Stupid body.

Sep. 6th, 2006 03:46 pmSneaky Apple!
New iMacs - Core 2 Duo (Merom?), and 24" model! Just launched. Also Mac Mini is now dual Core only 1.66 or 1.83Ghz.
I'd watch those MacBook Pros VERY closely, if they've refreshed the iMac so thoroughly, so soon, with little fanfare (although as suggested with the Mac Mini, the processors are swappable - so perhaps the revisions would be more involved for the laptop).
Interestingly the "eMac replacement" iMac has surfaced as a non-education model now (17" with Unified Memory GMA-950 graphics), making the 1.83 GHz Mac Mini seem like a really daft buy (£150 less, for which you lose a 17" LCD display, iSight Camera, Core 2 Duo, 80Gb of HD space; and gain a SuperDrive which isn't offered as an upgrade on this basic iMac). For me, the appealing iMac is the £799 2.0GHz 17" - that would be the perfect eMac replacement.
Only the 24" model costs more than £1000 - £1,349 - with 2.33Ghz costing another £170 for this and the 20" model. Also looks like the 24" marks a move away from ATI as predicted, so perhaps a new motherboard has been designed for this model. It carries NVIDIA hardware in place of the ATI X1600 - many pundits suggested that after AMD acquired ATI, the connection with Intel would see ATI graphics phased out as the standard for Apple.
As a point of reference, the 23" Cinema display (same resolution as the 24" iMac) costs £779
