Woooooo

Jan. 7th, 2006 01:01 am
My head hurts and feels like it is going to explode. I hate colds, they make me feel all woozy and lightheaded, but also leaden and rubbish :P

Sera booked in for Tuesday to get the suspension and engine mount, I'm letting them have a go at the thermostat nut too... and the MOT *panic*. I hope it passes, I really do - I'm used to garages which will overlook minor infractions like knackered suspension, no brakes, bald tyres, non-functioning lights, immense holes in the floor... Admittedly the Sera has none of these issues, but it does have marginally slack wishbones - I am not in the mood to be told it has failed on £260 of parts right now.

Got a chance to use the front fogs in the grotty weather today - yellow lights really do work a lot better.

Spent some time trying to sort out my websites. I keep forgetting just HOW much GoLive sucks ass, especially where FTP is concerned. How can a mature product be so utterly unstable and shit?
Have finished moving [livejournal.com profile] marymortis (who needs to change her LJ location) and her cat [livejournal.com profile] skltzocat (who needs to update her LJ)- relatively straightforward. Skitzo escaped from the box, and despite hating me, let me pick her up and cuddle her twice before I coaxed (and guided) her into the box so it was her own decision. I did start off cocky though, putting the cuddled cat into the top of the box, and that earned me some stripes. Red, bleeding ones.

I actually think the new place feels better to live in than the old one does. Obviously experience will prove if that hunch is correct, but the main door entrance, secluded location and the actually quite large bedroom made what seemed at first to be a 'settling' kind of place has actually proven to be a good choice. It feels a lot better than the previously viewed flat at £35,000, for example.

Hopefully Shazza will have her internet online soon and can tell everyone how she's settling in. And if I left my screwdrivers behind.

Upstairs is now distressingly empty, I have rediscovered my Sinclair QL and brought some nesting tables left behind downstairs to put my Xbox on, which I'm going to go and collect soon. The upstairs kitchen is amazingly tidy - I am going to try and keep it that way, albeit still with the intention of using it as my 'electronics workshop' - this time, though, I will make proper use of drawers and things to store components with some organisers, keep heatshrink, good solder and new tools on hand, and not fill it with dead computers - only devices being worked on at the time, and all in a way which can be cleared up very quickly.

Now, to attempt to text [livejournal.com profile] princealbert and get a postcode for TomTom. The Sera is getting a run tonight I think, I'm undecided and might take the Beetle (the Sera is running alright, but there has been a faint rubbery smell - it could be the rear brakes still bedding in from lack of use, of course). Or I could be adventurous and run the XR4i (maybe not).
Foul tempting internet.

It MUST be possible to design a kit to make these somehow, surely?
