Or something like that; my plan worked in that I sold lots of stuff I would otherwise have thrown out or Freecycled on eBay and got enough to pay for the radio in my Ignis; also a Dell 5520 WWAN card to fit to the FlipStart. Hopefully it'll work!

However; because I wanted music NOW, I had to go to Halfords, and they offer a: bad prices, and b: limited range, so I got the Ignis the Alpine X300 radio at about £20 more than online, not a horrible premium for having it now. Getting this has allowed me to study the manual for the X200 and understand how the X100 works, however, which I could do in the crappy Halfords displays.

The X200 and X100 both have a rotate/push and rotate large control wheel. Rotate does the usual, skip one item per click. X300 does that too.

However.

Push and rotate will automatically skip to the next letter in the Alphabet. Want to play Pet Shop Boys? Push and rotate for A-P, THEN rotate to Pet... MUCH quicker.

Whilst I don't have this in my car, I can totally see the quality of that user interface design, so kudos to Alpine for the X200 and X100 models. If it weren't for the Suzuki being a stopgap, or if I had had more time before the next 1,000 miles of driving, I'd have bought either of the higher-end models to get that rapid access. As it is, on mine I can skip 10 percent units, then press, then search, so it's still pretty safe. And more to the point, it was the cheapest option for iPod/no skipping/easy user interface.

Jen is off home, I will follow on Tuesday having rehomed the Chickens. The work done on the house is amazing and I've hardly done anything myself, though I have managed to do other things and be irritable with those things instead. The hall is going to look STUNNING, and I'm adding it to the particulars I'm drawing up from the old ones as a defined space, since it wasn't on the originals.

Advertising the MR2 soon I think - £2,500 with all the audio gear/new radiator. Seems cheap but people are having trouble selling it seems. Also decided to cut down the ambitions for the house price slightly.
