Dirty Stopout
Jan. 4th, 2008 03:29 pmYesterday, I loaded the Delica, and set off back to Scotland via Bletchley (my pictures are shit, due to FEAR about taking tripod and camera-that-only-behaves-at-200ISO or less, and indeed reluctance to use flash). Then noticed that I wasn't far from Enfield. So went to visit
deathboy and collect an Inpulse One drum machine from one of the team that made it (to get the all-important tapes of samples).
Scott kindly reminded me that it was in fact
cyb0rfox's "let's get him drunk before his appraisal" evening, in the sort of kindly reminding way that goes "Go on. Go on. No really, Go on.", so I ended up going into London, drinking with GOTHICKS, crashing in Enfield, and heading back to Birmingham instead. I'll go back to Hawick on Sunday or something.
The Delica played up, but hasn't repeated the trick so hopefully just had a 'moment'. The second Inpulse One appears - after some tweaking - to be working, though I have no headphones/amp to test output with! Or leads to record samples. Argh! I'll figure it out, though I am sure I must have the right lead to connect tape deck to laptop at least to back up the tapes.
Met new people, and of course saw the usual reprobates. I think
hauntedunix was coming onto me, though. Will he ever learn?!
Also, boring nerd that I am, I drove both sides of the M45 by way of a 16 mile detour just because I wanted to see the deserted, forgotten motorway and the very old flyovers still in place...
