Cheer up, Goth
Nov. 7th, 2007 03:16 pmMood improved yesterday with a few helpful things: Mulled wine, enforced, along with chat about next Whitby then doing random low-stress computer things (which mostly remained low stress).
Poke car and find rust isn't so bad, flaked paint but fixable.
Looking at contract hire for when the RX8 goes back and seeing several budget-friendly cars peering back from the page:
Citroen C6 2.2 HDi (and even, at a stretch, the 2.7V6). Would I break my "No French Cars" rule? To have owned a C6 when it has a warranty? Quite possibly.
Jeep Cherokee (blah, don't like the new one much)
Chrysler 300C Touring, albeit with the diesel engine. I'm less against diesel combined with auto in a big car, though.
Audi A4 Cabrio, but not too practical there. Would have to put my plate on it though.
For sheer comedy value, the Saab-based Cadillac BLS (it's a joke car)
Alfa Romeo 159 Sportwagon
A-class (of course)
Today isn't too bad. Got the exhaust, OUCH price (ex. VAT. I asked them, but they got it wrong. Nothing I can do about that really), have doused old one in WD40 and have some doubts about being able to extract it from under the car even if all the bolts come undone. Waiting until tomorrow morning to do it as it gets dark and I have a headache.
Getting around the Borders is a little tricky due to a massive invasion of bears. Everywhere I go. Bears on the A7. Bears on the Tweedbank roundabout. Bears in Selkirk. I think that the council employee commenting on never having seen the new contractor "Bear" around has caused some massive show of strength.
Got reversing camera. It appears to work. Can't work out where to fit it though! Also got a C64 DTV, an NTSC "Mammoth" one so without Flash ROM. It works and works on the van's monitor. Found a DTV MK II (PAL) version online and bought it too since they're cheap, and the PAL one has some useful tweaks like 256 colour mode. I think I might recase one of them with ports added and a small form factor PS/2 keyboard to make a tiny C64.
Have sushi for today's foods. Am in good mood overall.
Will not mess with car. Will not mess with car. Will not mess with car.
