Finally tracked it down. My Dell is missing a $25 part.
Dell RH515 Wireless USB board
That's why I can't get the remote to work.
Do they ship to the UK? Do they bugger.
Work, then on the phone to India to get the number for the Dell parts people in the UK and give them the right part number. Maybe it'll be £15 or something. Maybe it won't be available. Either way, I'm going to get one somehopw and fit it, because I want the damn remote to work!
Aside from anything else, the HYUGE Gyration remotes are $200 bits of hardware, and they don't have the media player screen. If this device comes with something included worth $200, then it makes it better value IMO.
(And yes, it is an internal part. Dell publish how to take the machine apart on their website. I see that as an invitation. I'm equally narked to have found on those pages images that suggest the M2010 is ready and waiting to have dual Mini PCI-E slots but one lacks the connection hardware, because that would allow 3G internally with SIM and antenna provisions).
