Chickenfun. There was a black and white cat - Morticia isn't doing her job - chasing the chickens yesterday! Iris went in the gap behind the chicken run and hid, and I had to go extract her; oddly enough despite being distressed, she seemed pleased that I was there. I picked her up, but didn't have room to move, so popped her on the top of the run and walked around to get her. Poor thing is so heavy, and can't fly, so she was very nervous.

The cat went to the flats over the road; I expect the chickens will regroup and teach it a lesson next time, as Morticia gets NO peace from them.

Workfun. I have a LOT of scans to do, as well as everything else I'm working like mad to get sorted out. The Flextight scanner is insanely easy to use compared to the old Leaf I worked with. Need more compressed air for cleaning transparencies, though. Also need to get back into writing articles, I've got loads to do but seem to have dropped out of the habit. The new office is MUCH nicer though, especially given how hot mine used to get in summer.

Musicfun. The studio needs a reorganisation again, I think, especially now the G5 is really able to be dedicated to music. I think I'm going to steal the 160GB external drive+card reader for use on the iMac and have a bit of a clearout on it, and then see if I can manage to reroute the cables and system so that NO audio leads pass under the G5 anywhere. Also need to rechase Korg for parts I'd ordered last year for my Trinity, just cosmetic stuff, but I'l like to finish that rebuild. Still need to cut down on kit, but can't decide on which synths should go - they're all too different!

Carfun: RX8 needs tyres - looking at Michelins - and has now hit 21,000 miles.

Housefun. I'm gradually tearing the kitchen down, preparing to fit the new one, and also blitzing all my "stuff" so a lot of it gets chucked out. If it works and gets chucked, it's put to one side at the dump so people can see it and take it if they want to. I should have another eBay blitz, but it's really tedious listing, selling and packing everything.

Photographyfun. Aside from going over my old transparencies (I can't believe the expense and time I used to waste on snapshots), I'm selling off some spare kit, and deciding on a "final" kit for my primary camera. Obviously that camera will be the Sigma SD14 (backed up I expect by the DP-1 when it's available), but the final lens choice is proving fun. I want a Macro, and I want the 18-200 OS because it's cheap and light. The 50-500, lovely as it is, is too bloody unwieldy, and I never need the length (says the bloke who shoots portraits at 417mm...), so I'm wondering about the OS 80-400. Difficult. 8mm is a definite keeper, and I'm thinking that maybe the 70mm macro will be useful.

Maybe instead of a telephoto, I'll have a straight long lens for when I need it. Must check what is available.

I'll be selling the SD10 "Twin Zoom Lens" kit with extended grip on eBay; my last SD10 body (which was considerably older; this one has barely been used) went for £400 with a couple of cheap SA lenses, if anyone is keen to try out Sigma SD kit and wants a guideline figure for it...

I'm also selling my medium format Fujicas. Sadly. I'll never use them again though.

Still waiting for the 120mm Macro, 75-150 and 28mm for the ZD, but getting more used to the ZD's behaviour now. Need to get the hang of my flash gear!

Incredibly, I have discovered I have an entire "publishing system" (don't laugh) left over. I have a Mac G3, a Minolta Dimage Scan Dual (35mm and APS), and an Epson 7000 (if I go poke around, I bet I still have a Photo 1200 with transparency lid) scanner. And a 19" display. I could, if I could be arsed, set it all up under Mac OS 8.6 and have it working with Photoshop of a suitable era... I know it's silly low-end kit, but we did in fact produce sections of the magazine with this stuff (well, not THIS G3, it's running Ubuntu, but one like it).

And now, I go post things, and get back to work! I still have 2 x 512MB SODIMMS suitable for MacBook, Intel iMac, probably various kinds of PC laptop - DDR2 PC5300 or something, I posted the details before. £25 inc. postage, brand new...
