Here, puss!
Feb. 12th, 2006 07:33 pmEdinburgh Zoo has a rare pallas cat. It is rarely seen.
I spotted it running to hide in a hollow log. Everyone stood and looked at it in the log.
I hid where I couldn't be seen, and told everyone to move away from the log. Sure enough, a scowly Pallas cat face appeared above the log and stared at me. I stared back. We stared at each other for a while, everyone came to look, and then the cat jumped out of the log and trotted up to the glass, upon which everyone got excited and it ran off again.
Then it came back, and walked back up to the glass, staring at me again. Everyone crowded to get pictures of it, and it jumped up at the glass a bit above my head. I think it would have been quite friendly with me.
We also saw Asian Small-clawed Otters begging for their food, making a mewing, keening sound in a big group.
