Edwardscissors in Spoken For
Well acted and well directed, this heart-wrenching sequel, set in wartorn Poland in 1940, takes a look at sceptics, [livejournal.com profile] edwardscissors (Bronson Pinchot) and [livejournal.com profile] siani_hedgehog (Michelle Pfeiffer), who discover themselves in an international scandal because a hurtful divider has been initiated by his controlling cousin, [livejournal.com profile] lunacia (Rachel Weisz). This film is loved by dozens worldwide.

Got the new battery for [livejournal.com profile] malcygoff's Sera - started, ran well and took it for a little (rather naughty due to lack of tax) run around the block. Brakes and everything seem to be working fine. So, not too bad for a car which hasn't been driven since the end of March (it's been run a few times, though). New battery is a shiny Varta 'with silver and calcium".

Took apart the dirtiest Sun Sparcstation 1 in the world to scrounge RAM (did I mention I'm seeking 30-pin SIMMs? I'm sure I did. I want some of those rare 16Mb jobs) - discovered Siemens Parity 4Mb RAM in it. So that is now in the mono NeXT, which is so very happy with it that it boots up purely graphically without any hissy fits, and even goes "ponk" to indicate all is well. I now have the smallest 4Mb SIMMs in the world to put in something, and some non-parity 4Mb SIMMs to throw back into my Quadra 700 (anyone want that thing?). The NeXT Mono system now lives in my 'working' office, hiding a really foul bit of decoration.

My office has been totally reorganised, I've thrown out 2 binbags of rubbish, filed a lot of stuff, cleaned everything, set up my Beige G3 neatly (now I need another TFT monitor for it, though - the 17" CRT is nice, but it's also bloody huge) and hung it under the IKEA desk out of the way as a print/file/FTP etc. server (it's really flying after I found that G4 and extra RAM in the Beige G3 I got with the NeXT systems).

I also got food and ran the dishwasher. I'm so domestic. What Siani forgot to tell people was about the Chickens last night - Morticia came up to the window frantically meowing and trying to get attention, then lead Siani down to the back of the garden... where Clover had escaped and was trying to sleep in the rhubarb patch.

I can never work out what Morticia thinks of the chickens, but she clearly knows that they are Important, and also are Supposed To Be In A Certain Place.

Wonder what to do with the Sparc. It's missing HD and floppy drives, has no keyboard or mouse, and presumably, a massive 8Mb of RAM. If it'll take a bank of 4 SIMMs it could have 20Mb, but I think I'm right in assuming Sun stuff has to have Parity RAM?

"It has a PRIZE in it!"
"It's not a prize"
*rattlerattle* "It is! It IS a PRIZE!"
"it's not"
*scrape, tear, bend*
"It is! It's like those little eggs you get in dispensers! Maybe the prize is in that!"
"It's not a prize. It is a widget"
"It's a plastic thing. It has beer on it"
"Yes. It's to make sure you get good head"
"SEE! It IS a prize!"

*plans to wear it always*
