Siani had a migraine, so I watched Escape from New York quietly by myself. Before going off to bed, I'm editing Ed's easter play (well, importing the video for now, there's not much editing to with one camera in one location).
All this technology amazes me sometimes. I just plug a DV camera into a socket, and bang, I can make DVDs.
Been trying to work out the best way of hosting a website. The money for colocation is there, so all I need to do for that is build a 1U rack server and configure it. This means I can have my own music site, too - I will buy a block of 5 IPs or something, so I can run a couple of sites at this stage.
Music - my new project, the title track for my first 'TastyOther' album, "Tokens of Affliction", has been stalled because I took to playing 'Trust' on the keyboard when bored. Not very helpful, since this song has lyrics which I've made an effort to sing, rather than just talk in pitch, and working out a traditional, or even half-decent, track to go behind them is proving to be quite a challenge. Unlike my "First and Last" track, which sounds totally bubblegum punk in my head and therefore unplayable (though I dare say I could sample Avril Latrine and use that), this one is very much my song. I have my video concept, a nice set of lyrics, and I'm happy with the progress.
Cars: Missy is proving to be everything i expected, except economical. 1.6 in such a heavy car results in very poor economy :/. TDi or 1.8T next time, i think. The Sera is an albatross and I'm getting sick of the sight of it. Siani's car is proving to be an amusing thorn in the dealer's side after they refused to repair the one fault we've complained about since getting the car, and trading standards have gone after them. Heh. To add insult to injury, my sister's bf bought a Sera, but not mine! Argh!
I hate posting things I sold on eBay. It's such a hassle trying to pack 25 year old computers.
No more Fred Dibnah programmes :(
PC - is mostly working, but my scanner appears to have failed. Either a Twain issue (Vuescan doesn't work either, though), or it's broken. I hate TWAIN, on Mac or PC. I haven't noticed the PC since I've been using the Mac for pretty much everything. The fact that it's presently running Safari, iTunes, webserver, iMovie, Logic 6, iJournal, AppleWorks and Hammerfall DSP without any noticeable slowdown suggests that the 2Gb upgrade was worth getting. I'm down to only 90Gb free, though, so a second 160Gb drive is definitely in order. iTunes tells me I have 26Gb of music (6,889 songs, of which only a surprising 54 are illegal downloads (though at least 10 of them I own on vinyl or tape). I suppose there are another 4 or 5 on the PowerBook too. Reminds me that I need some legal Dead Milkmen, Wierd Al, and Atom & His Package... Of course, I went for the 20Gb iPod as my Christmas present because the 40 would be too greedy, so I have to choose some albums to leave behind - I like to leave about 5Gb free for downloading images from my camera, too.
Got lovely hand-made Easter eggs for the kids (and one for Siani ;) ) from the sweet shop down the road. The one I was thrown into. In fact, the chocolate was mixed in the bowl that could have broken my neck. Ah. Memories...
