Bored?

May. 11th, 2009 04:01 pm
Work getting annoying? Sick of paperwork and chasing little bits of stuff that take three hours of faffing in city-centre traffic? STILL chasing the same bit of ad copy as last week?

I recommend a trampoline. It's very hard to remain scowly and pissed off whilst defying gravity.

In fact, next time I take a break and play on it, I am going to yell "GRAVITY, I DEFY THEE!" and confuse the people in the nearby houses.
Rescue hens:

They appear to be in Norfolk (which is a part of the country I simply haven't been to bar once for a holiday, which was near a stinking chicken farm) - 10,000 of 'em. It's unlikely we'd be able to take them as the run needs rebuilding and realistically we need to own this place before making long term livestock plans, but if you know anyone nearby pass it on, and spread the word, simply because it won't cost you anything to do so.

ETA: When I say take them, I mean any of them. Much as I love hens as pets, 10,000 of them would be Too Many Hens. (Starring Don Knotts).

Blue sky, green grass
Blue sky, green grass
Looking up, down, not flying
Not quite there
Tuck, flip, fail
Magnetic pull of earth to feet
Dense responsibility

Orange boots, green nettles
Stepping high, crushing
Stepping high, falling
Brown brambles
Red blood
Smiling and getting up
Marked for misadventures

Brown mud, brown smell
Suspicious, wary
Nothing growing
Orange sky, matching boots
Climb; silvergrey poles and birch ply
Behind, red windows and shattered glass
Ghosts of pigs past.

Concrete, grey. Green grass
It's only a couple of feet
Yet, the leap eludes me
This would have been nothing 5,
No, 15.
No. 25 years ago.

Red sky, red rust
Piercing orange beam in the darkness
A green shoot
Windowless, barren
One crack in the panels
One shoot, higher than the leap, in the concrete.

Orange warmth
Orange boots in garage
Red blood dried to red ochre
Tribal marking of youth
Never feared to leap
Never feared to fall

Dark blue, black
Floating on manmade web
Silver pinpricks of stars
And silver pinpricks of dreams
Of leaping and falling again.
