Quick trip to Chelt, sadly missing
ninjagirl but getting food in Norwood with
ev1ldonut and
azekiel, before following to
kissycat1000's house where there were rats! Rats with snuffly noses and whiskers. I do indeed like rats.
Delica is behaving, though the service is definitely a priority. It'll do 80! Removed a couple of yards of crap wiring and badly "fitted" relay in an attempt to track down the foglight fault - the standard arrangement is "switch on the foglights and they also switch on the sidelights and work regardless of ignition", and someone had concocted a mess of wiring hooked to the headlights to make them switched with headlights on only. Meh, all has been restored.
Need to replace the horns, as they're falling apart, but the bolts that hold them on are not rusty. They're right in front of the wheels and get a severe soaking.
jenova_red's car is being repaired by the garage on the basis of them replacing the subframe free as long as we pay for the subframe, which is only £180. I could argue that they should pay for it, but frankly it doesn't seem worth arguing over and having the car off the road for even longer. It should be done tomorrow or Wednesday, I can't help thinking I should stick around and make sure they've done the job right - what with the subframe being the bit that holds it all together at the front. It'll be going to VW for a timing belt and the bolts can be checked over for torque there, but I want to check the pipework, brackets and so forth when the car is done.
Thomas Dolby tonight!
