One look

"You spoiled it.
"The one thing in the world I look forward to. The one thing I ask for that I don't need, but want. The one thing you give me that lifts my mood.
"Apology or treat. And you spoiled it".

So sayeth the cat, when ground-up pill is hidden in the gooshyfood. With one glance.

Now I have to give her some without pill in it. I assume, somehow, the pill WILL go in the cat, but the traditional and not traditional methods have been tried. Cat is a tube with a hole at both ends; if she's not careful, I'm going to see if the pill fits the end without teeth. SOMEHOW she is taking her antibiotics.

After many, many decades of SCIENCE, you'd think that vetinary pharm companies would have sussed out a way of getting the medicine into the animal that the animal actually likes. Like making it taste of those salt-and-ash treats that make cats piss yellow diamonds at 7 years old. Or indeed, like making it into IAMS kibbles.
I have none, really.

New additions to the pile of retro computers now lurking in Birmingham Sutton (Laaa-di-dah!) are a boxed Enterprise 64 and EXDOS unit. You may recall the Enteprise being, like the Apple IIgs, one of those computers I just will not STFU about - launched in 1985, really neat tech (fully soft display with maximum resolution of 672 x 512, 256 colours, stereo sound with ring modulation...) and the EXDOS disk interface makes them easy to play with. The 64? Well, it was going cheaper than I've seen an Enterprise go for a while, and the fact that I got it means it WENT cheap - the prices on these really do go all over the place, since the last 128 I saw went for £220 a couple of months ago; before that Hungarians flooded the market a bit.

I'm also trying to finish off some work, but there's a big box of Volvo bits. It's calling me. I can see the spring seats and plates. I understand how they fit together (they're splined! I understand it now! I think I'm finally beginning to work it out!). I don't have my spring compressors yet... but surely I could just jack the car up and get the struts freed off? It wouldn't do any harm...

Trip plans: I am selling things on eBay which I've made available with free delivery to certain parts of the UK, they end on the 12th. I need to see [livejournal.com profile] metzkass, need to go to Birmingham, and want to try and pop into Cheltenham when I'm doing this too as it has been Too Long since I last saw [livejournal.com profile] ninjagirl, [livejournal.com profile] kissycat1000, [livejournal.com profile] azekiel and [livejournal.com profile] ev1ldonut. And everyone else who crossed my mind when I realised listing all the awesome people in Chelt was going to result in a spelling error or a lot of work.

Heeeeee...

Hmmm.

Nodrog thinks that he's going to get 500,000 unemployed back into work.

How, exactly?

As Chancellor and responsible for the country's economy for the past decade, I would have thought that getting 500,000 people back into work should have been quite a priority. What has changed since he became PM to make this task any more relevant or attainable?

I remain unconvinced.

And he's pissing off the Unions, too.

He looks almost as much like a woman as Thatcher did a man. So perhaps we're in for another term of interesting politics. Russians flying bombers, the Cold War certainly looking like someone remembered to shut the fridge for a while, and who knows, maybe we'll get someone utterly brainless and useless as American Presiden... ah, nvm...

I really like the way the BBC keep reusing this image of him:

Our Esteemed Leader.
