I think it's time I killed my Demon account.

I've had it for... ages.

I use it for most email purposes.

But recently, with all the crap that people seem to insist on spewing through email, I have a problem.

BT will not allow me to use their outgoing mail server to send Demon email
Demon will not allow me to use their outgoing mail server (even with authentication) from a BT IP address
NOTHING will accept mail send directly from my Mac, which wasn't an issue before.

Either I need to fork out money for BT to allow relay (and even then, they won't, because I don't own demon.co.uk), somehow make Postfix on the Mac not get rejected (I've tried all the FAQs and walkthroughs with smart hosts and so forth; it still gets rejected; they compare "from" address!), pay something for a domain name of my own and run it on my Cobalt, or save a tenner a month and tell Demon to go fuck themselves if they won't let me use the outgoing mail server to send email.

I suppose not many things I use actually rely on Demon email addresses anymore. Hardly anyone writes to me and those that do, I have to reply from a BT address anyway for them to get the email.

Bloody spammers. The email system would NOT be so fucked over and locked down if a: Windows users didn't actually end up with their machines being hijacked for sending shite via ISP servers, and b: this shite wasn't clogging up the email system anyway.

I don't want to lose my Demon mail addresses. I'd have saved that tenner a month some time ago if I didn't actually like still having the same account I had well over a decade ago. But it's become completely useless to me.
OMG.

I listed the ADAT kit.

"Won't ship this lot, it's too bulky. Collect in Scottish Borders or email me if you want to arrange delivery, I travel about a lot" (basically).

First question. "Will you ship this to Denmark?"

Response. "No"

Reply to that: "I just want the BRC".

Response: "Okay, hit BIN and I'll ship it free".

Nothing happens.

Question 2: "Is it compatible with XT?"

"Yes".

Question 3: "I really need just the BRC, if I BIN will you ship to London ASAP please?"

"Yes",

Question 2 guy then hits BIN, pays, and... ASKS FOR POSTAGE PRICE! ARGH! He's in bloody ESSEX!

Question 3 guy has no doubt seen it's sold and is looking elsewhere.

Then this evening, I get mail from Question 1 guy saying "Thankyou so much! I will do that!"

The item has sold!

*rolls eyes*

eBay is really beginning to bug me lately. On the plus side, MOST excellent seller with the NEC 900c; as long as the device is as described I'll be delighted. $38 EMS shipping from the US (when I paid $45 for the tiny, light, LG Style headphones) and a good bundle with WiFi. And the total cost is less than an earlier NEC 900 in a UK auction sold for, so I know I'll get my money back if I don't like the device (which is pretty unlikely).
