Weekend

Mar. 12th, 2007 02:43 am
Well, that was a lovely weekend, actually :)

The marriage of [livejournal.com profile] thirstypixel and [livejournal.com profile] sarcaustick was nothing other than the lavish and elegant affair one would expect, but with incredible warmth and relaxed atmosphere. So many friends, so many people and a wonderful setting. As well as seeing the wonderful Bride and Groom, I also got to catch up/get to know more people a touch more; it was particularly nice to see [livejournal.com profile] redshira again after... well over a year I think - and to talk to [livejournal.com profile] jozafeen :)

Drive back provide that York really is 2 hours, 30 minutes - Gateshead at 2am is not packed, but the A68 is too windy for sleepdep and sick people. The Astra has now done 5,000 miles in 2 months, and was reasonably comfortable for the drive - and did 104mph on one stretch of the A1. Wheee! I've washed it so it no longer says "Buttsex" or anything else on the back.

This week I might post some content. I've realised how bad my updating has been lately. I'm maybe going to post snippets about retro computers, or something, but I need to remember how to write more than "I did this and saw this".

Friday, [livejournal.com profile] siani_hedgehog is going to Glasgow, and I'm going up on Saturday. I think we're seeing The Fall.

Much to my chargrin, my Intuos 2 mouse is developing a blister on the rubber. This is the second one I've had go like this. I think I need a new mouse solution :)
Tom's got an iPod Nano.

He loads it from Ed's iMac - put a CD in, iTunes rips it, puts it on the nano. Nice and straightforward. They know how to use computers, but this WORKS.

I gave Ed my Sandisk Sansa.

I've already come across this retarded system whereby you copy the music, it "updates" the database of media, and half the time fails to refresh the database correctly anyway...

But apparently they can't get it to do anything. They've copied folders of MP3s over, as I described, and it locks up... I told him to use the PC for it as it was a PC-focussed device, so any software or media support that it should be designed to work with is included.

My own user experience of the Sansa has not been good anyway, but seriously, all the people that knock iTunes/iPod (forget iTMS before you all start on that, you bloody hippies) - Apple got it RIGHT with the interaction between this software and the device. Simple. It works. Obviously sometimes things go wrong, but the general paradigm works.

I'm half tempted to take the Sansa back, shove it on eBay, and get him a nano of his own.
Can I justify renewing LJ at the moment?

[Poll #945009]

Edit: Bloody LJ formatting tricks and polls. That should read "+r@g!|<"
Not that it really needs to be said.

But Carphone Warehouse are REALLY shit :D
The choice about whether or not to renew my LJ has been cruelly taken from me!

Thankyou [livejournal.com profile] jenova_red and [livejournal.com profile] kest! You're stuck with me for some time now with all my pictures and pointless polls!

(And thankyou [livejournal.com profile] jenova_red for more userpics... now I am going to totally fill them with scary variations on the Bugeye one :D)
