Jun. 6th, 2006 11:14 amEyes tested, deemed 'odd'. Left eye hasn't changed much if at all; testing procedure seems to introduce more variation than actual eye issues. Right eye has definitely been damaged during the operation when I was a kid; it's all over the shop and distorted. Identifying a correction factor simply isn't possible! Eyes did the usual thing of focusing alright even without glasses in some conditions, which upset the optician.
New frames chosen - Police, part frameless, square-ish, dark brown (they had stainless, but I actually preferred the way the brown looked on me). Contacts organised too; as a result my new glasses, with a pair of mirrored prescription RayBan wrap-around-like sunglasses, cost just over £160. I don't actually need to take ANY months of contacts, apparently - just saying I'll try 'em and seeing how I like the first (free) one is enough to get the discount.
Overall, I didn't like any of the glasses available a huge amount, and all the memory-metal ones have annoying little wire links for the bridge, which look silly to me. If I want a thin wire bridge, I want thin wire-rimmed glasses, and they should be victorian and round!
Should have the contacts on Thursday and new glasses next week. I'm really very excited about the sunglasses; I think wrap-around sunglasses look stupid on anyone except Vin Diesel, but want to have less glare from the sides when driving.
