Mar. 1st, 2006 03:35 pmAh, poopy.
It's very cold today, despite the sun. Still, I swapped the failed passenger strut on the Sera. The new one is worse. And the Sera has hiccups, which means I probably need to service the fuel injection & ignition systems. And stuff I want from eBay hasn't shown up. And no call from Mazda yet about my shock absorber. And house stuff, which was supposed to be resulting in me having some money, is taking a while so I'm feeling broke (yesyes, I know I got an iPod, but I didn't actually pay for it).
Still, at least the Nazis at VOSA haven't made the new MOT system flag a failed car so the unexpired original certificate becomes invalid, so the Scorpio is taxed; I am relieved (kinda) to read the small print and see that free retests a: don't apply for a failed handbrake, and b: don't apply more than 1 business day now. I'm sure it used to be 14 days. *shrugs*
Pillocks on the radio this morning babbling about "Green Growth". Well, instead of suggesting everyone buys Pruises (seriously) or stops driving cars that do 4mpg (er. John Humphrys, you clearly know less about cars than a small gnat - really, he stopped interrupting long enough to share this gem that people are driving cars that do 8 or 4mpg. That'll be why the South East is crawling with Bugatti Veyrons going flat out... oh wait. It isn't). How about we encourage our service-based industries to move towards teleworking, cutting down on the number of commuters? And providing safe, reliable, WELL DRIVEN, biodiesel or better yet, biodiesel hybrid school transport (whilst also making it nearly impossible to park near a school, but providing spaces IN schools for emergency use). Cars aren't going to get much more efficient; the only more efficient powered transport is a motorbike and they only carry two people.
Of course, HM Government doesn't want us to stop driving. They'd need to get tax revenues from somewhere else.
