Well, I'm not disappointed
May. 6th, 2005 08:58 amNone of the parties really appeal to me, though my economic leanings are Tory and I simply can't stand Blair's blatant lying and arrogance, so I suppose the result isn't that bad really.
I mean, Brown hasn't screwed up the economy, perhaps a smaller majority will mean that the sort of legislation that bogs down UK businesses will meet more resistance, and Blair, whilst still in power, clearly has had the smirk wiped from his face. Tellingly the Labour seats retained appear to be ones with notable anti-Blair candidates.
Tories making gains, needless to say on the "Bigot" vote sadly. Ewww, immigrants and gays. What is the world coming to. *sigh*
And all the students voted LibDem. There's a shock ;)
John Humphrys couldn't vote. Someone had registered him as a postal voter. Likewise Mariella Frostrup called the Today programme with the same complaint. I think someone has been registering celebrity names to expose flaws in the security of the postal voting system. Plus the Birmingham complain about "A van going around with postal votes" or something. Heh. Of course, that complaint came from someone losing the election.
I'm wondering what the turnout was. It looks like the electorate made informed decisions, after all. Or at least, a decent number of them.
