Hooray for Korg!

My beaten up T1 is about to get an almost full restoration thanks to Korg's fantastic spares policy.

New wooden end cheeks
New joystick (these are dead cheap, shared with M1 and the like. If it's broken get in touch with Korg)
Perhaps a mod wheel upgrade
New front panel buttons
New keys to replace burned keys
New contrast pot
New contacts and grease on the keybed
New power switch

It's going to cost well under £100 to restore this workhorse, too.

If you have an older Korg, then consider going directly to Korg for your spares if you can. Apparently really old stuff that is still in stock gets reduced in price accordingly.

I didn't get the Korg X911 I wanted so badly to try with the electric cello.

Guide price is $242 on PrePal, and average used is $302 on SonicState. So I think £150 would have been a fair figure. I'd already decided that since I'd had some pretty evil bidding against me, I was going to come in near the end with a bid of £175 and hope that was enough to meet the reserve as the bidding was at £120 and had quietened down (snipers, I suspect). Then it ends early.

I've done that before, though I always ask that the person asking me to end early outbids any existing bidders first, it's legitimate that someone might expect their reserve wasn't going to be met I suppose.

And you know what, it wouldn't be. The reserve was £235

I'm really disappointed. I thought really hard about if I needed or wanted this thing, and then I would never have got it anyway. If the seller got even close to that, they were doing well - I suspect they didn't as their response to my saying I was planning on bidding £175 was "Shit". Even then I really didn't want to pay that much, I was hoping for £150 or less.

They suggested the Line6 FM4 might be fun with the cello. It's not quite the same, though... Still, looks like a sub £100 toy.

I'm going to go and whine now. Though I should be pleased I haven't spent the money.
