24 hours with Missy!
Mar. 2nd, 2004 02:07 pmMissy was delivered at 9:30am on 1st March, a healthy girl weighing 3054lbs. Annoyingly, they didn't deliver her on a truck, but drove from Birmingham, so already there is one little stonechip. It's not serious at all, just irritating. Also, the standard (I'm led to believe) daisy was missing from the vase ;)
It's a long time since I've been really excited about a car. It's all gotten a little too old and tiring. But I really shopped around, and a New Beetle Cabrio was exactly what I wanted. I'm not disappointed. Unlike the Peugeot, the roof seals so well it could be a hardtop, and there are no leaks at all. It's quiet, a little slow as it only has the 1.6 engine, immensely comfortable and has all sorts of surprise and delight features; the dashboard illumation is assisted by two red 'pools' from the rear view mirror that light the vents and radio (and daisy), the switches are damped, everything feels like it's built to withstand years of use, rather than built to last precisely until the warranty expires as with the Peugeot.
Added to that, I think the car looks good, but that's very much a matter of taste.
I've replaced the missing daisy with a selection; I have a very nice fabric poppy and bud, a regular fabric poppy, and a purple daisy as can be seen in the pictures. I also have a Marie Curie cancer charity daffodil, which is a little short (it's intended as a pin badge) but looks nice. I also had some furry dice, but they're a: illegal, and b: for a good reason, since I couldn't see things on the left pavement.
Next things will be proper mats and mudflaps, some extra chrome bits (a way off), and the stuff to fit the iPod into the cupholder and link it to the radio :)

Other news: New cooker is brilliant, got some sort of ex display thingy for my Laserdisc player (like a Point of Sale stand), sold my G4 system to my dad, trying to sell various old machines like my Falcon :/
