Just went to Cardiff to see David playing the opening night for a gig - quickly checking mail and packing the 'blad before going to sleep. I remember why I dislike Cardiff; the road network is terrible, especially in freezing fog!
Weird thing, though - after the Charger, my Citroën feels positively dainty. And fast. I didn't mention my slight shock, having got off the plane and been picked up by
kest in her car, at headlights that don't swivel to look around corners, and I got to enjoy the full effects of this in the fog on the way back, twin high-powered beams scanning the horizon on every roundabout.
I keep calling the C6 "Binky" in my head. Binky was the name of my last XM that came to an undignified end on the M1 with a new owner, having succumbed to rather too long in the salt-air of Mull and allowed all of the magic green fluid out at once through corroded pipes. The C6 is not Binky II, but it definitely needs a name.
Now, sleep, and work. 6 hours of driving for two hours of folk music.
Also: Robyn Hitchcock gig. Hereford. OMG, gotta go to that. It even has two former Soft Boys members.
